Pink Floyd wants to sell music – The (former) members of rock band Pink Floyd are planning to sell their music catalog for a record amount. According to Todays updates the music rights must be sold for 500 million dollars (almost 475 million euros) to one of the interested parties.
In addition to the musical rights, the band also sells the possibility to sell products that can be linked to the group, so-called merchandise.
Potential buyers would include Warner Music, Sony Music and BMG. Patrick McKenna, who represents the band, declined to comment on the rumors.
Pink Floyd wants to sell music rights for 500 million dollars
The fact that the band members have agreed on the sale is unique in itself. After the group was founded in 1965 under the direction of then singer Syd Barrett, a lot of dramas followed.
Barrett himself left after three years, after which bassist and singer Roger Waters said goodbye to the band in 1985. He then sued his former colleagues for using the name Pink Floyd.
Appointing McKenna as a representative should guide the group through the sales process unscathed.
