Music service Spotify replaces the green play button that is above playlists and albums. Instead, there will be two separate buttons: one for playing music in order and one for playing music in random order (shuffle).
The button that is now there leads to confusion among users. That’s because it has different functions. For example, for playlists on the phone, the button serves as a shuffle button, but with albums as a normal play button. And on the computer, the function of the button can be different again.
By putting two of the same buttons everywhere, it should become clearer how the songs are played, according to Spotify. The buttons will only be available for paying subscribers with a Premium account.

Spotify has taken a long time to find the solution, while users have been complaining about the confusion for some time. Since last year, the normal play button has been the default for albums. Singer Adele had asked the music service for this adjustment.
The new buttons will be introduced to users of the Android and iOS app in the coming weeks.
