appeals in case against Johnny Depp – Amber Heard’s lawyers officially appealed last Friday in the defamation case of her ex-husband Johnny Depp, it emerged sunday. They argue in a 43-page court document that there was not enough evidence for the ruling in Depp’s favor.
The legal team of the actress had already announced immediately after the verdict on June 1 that she would continue to litigate. Depp had sued Heard over an op-ed she had written about her experiences with domestic violence.
She did not mention a name in the article in The Washington Post, but according to the actor it was obvious that it was about him.
He stated that his career and reputation have suffered and demanded compensation. The jury agreed with him and awarded him more than 10 million dollars.

Heard had filed a counterclaim and was vindicated on one point. The jury determined that there was defamation when Depp’s lawyer previously called her allegations of abuse a “hoax.” That is why the actor has to pay his former wife 2 million dollars.
According to American media, Heard’s lawyers now argue that the jury’s decisions to judge for and against her are at odds with each other and are therefore not legally valid.
They also argue that the date of birth of one of the jurors was incorrectly in the court papers, so it cannot be determined whether the right person has taken a seat on the jury.
